Eligibility Criteria
To join the Pakistan Army as a Captain, you must meet the following criteria:
- Nationality: Pakistani citizens or domicile holders of AJK/Gilgit-Baltistan
- Education:
- Minimum 16 years of education (MSc/BS/BE) in:
- Software Engineering
- Computer Science
- Systems Engineering
- Information Technology
- Information Security
- Cyber Security
- Geo-Informatics
- Minimum CGPA: 2.5 out of 4.0 or 62.5% in the annual system
- Degree must be from an HEC-recognized university
- Minimum 16 years of education (MSc/BS/BE) in:
- Age Limit: Maximum 28 years (as of May 1, 2025)
- Height: Minimum 5 feet 4 inches (162.5 cm)
- Weight: As per Body Mass Index (BMI)
- Gender: Male only
- Marital Status: Both married and unmarried candidates can apply
How to Apply
Online Registration:
- Visit the official website: joinpakarmy.gov.pk
- Select the “Direct Short Service Commission” option
- Fill out the online form with personal and academic details (Name, CNIC, Domicile, Degrees, etc.)
- After successful registration, download the roll number slip — it is required for the test
Via AS&RC:
If you don’t have internet access, visit the nearest Army Selection & Recruitment Center (AS&RC) with the following documents:
- Original and attested copies of educational certificates/degrees
- Attested copy of domicile
- Copies of computerized National Identity Card (CNIC)
- 6 attested colored photographs (front and back)
- NOC from the department (for government employees)
- Prospectus fee to be paid at the time of registration

Selection Procedure
Initial Test:
- Academic and Intelligence Test (Multiple Choice Questions) at AS&RC
- Basic computer knowledge is required as tests and registration are computerized
Physical Test:
- 1.6 km run in 8 minutes
- 15 push-ups in 2 minutes
- Other exercises like sit-ups and chin-ups
Medical Test:
- Initial medical test at AS&RC
- Full medical examination at the nearest Combined Military Hospital (CMH) after ISSB recommendation
Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB):
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for the ISSB test
- Test date and time will be announced on the website or via call-up letter
Final Selection:
- Final merit-based selection by GHQ
- Selected candidates must sign a bond to serve a minimum of 7 years in the Pakistan Army
